APC dismisses ADC claims, says e-registration voluntary and widely accepted
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants were being coerced into participating in its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a press statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the APC said the allegations were part of what it called a disinformation campaign by the ADC, allegedly fueled by the growing public participation in the party’s digital registration drive.
The ruling party maintained that its e-registration process is voluntary and transparent, adding that the claim of coercion was an attempt to undermine what it described as a “cutting-edge” and innovative membership system.
The APC also accused the ADC of previously circulating a fake APC membership slip, which it said was designed to falsely link a notorious terrorist to the party.
According to the APC, the surge in registration reflects public support for the party and the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. It disclosed that the registration exercise, initially scheduled to end on January 31, was extended to February 8, 2026, following what it described as overwhelming interest from Nigerians nationwide.
“The ADC is clearly intimidated by the phenomenal success of our party’s e-registration exercise,” the statement said, adding that such concerns do not justify what it termed the spread of falsehoods.
The statement, signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON, emphasized that the party remains focused on strengthening its digital and democratic processes despite criticisms from opposition parties.
