Abducted Tulip Students: No Parent Withdrew Their Children, We’re On Break To Show Solidarity-School PTA
The Parents and Teachers of the Nigerian Tulip International College NTIC, Ogun State, has denied the reports that parents are withdrawing their children from the school, saying they are on break to show solidarity to the abductees.
They also condemned the circumstances which led to the kidnapping of three students and seven other staff of the college.
The PTA in a statement issued on Thursday and jointly signed by the Principal, Vice Principal and four Parents, said the claim that the school had pre-knowledge of the attack three weeks before is totally false.
The statement read: “we stand resolute in unshaken faith that our daughters would return without harm. We also wish to extend our appreciation to the relevant security agencies for their effort”t so far.
The statement further said, the school management is aware that those behind the evil act have made contacts with some relatives of the victims and “we are quite optimistic that the kidnappers would have a change of heart and release from hostage our daughters and their teachers.
“Much as this is a very trying period for us, our strength is inGod for his intervention. We also wish to appreciate the efforts of the school management, the Ogun and Lagos state government, in collaboration with Federal Government in ensuring that the students and teachers are set free to reunite with their families in the shortest possible time.
“The school has always taken the security of students and staff seriously, hence there were resident armed mobile policemen and some internal security officers on ground on the day of the incident.
“the erroneous claim that the school had being warned three weeks before the attack is totally false. Our focus now is the release of our students and staff. We are not to be drawn into any unproductive arguments.
“Those who claim to warn the school of imminent attack ought to be suspects of complicity.
In a bid to show solidarity to the abducted victims the school has declared a break and “this was deliberately twisted to claim parents are withdrawing their children.
“We, however, appeal to the press and the general public to disregard most of the rumours currently making the rounds on this unfortunate development, and rely on the police and the school authorities for information on the matter”.
Among those that endorse the statement are: Principal, Ercan YIMAZ, Mr. Aderoju O. K (Vice Principal), Mrs. Joyce Alhassan-Ankpa, Kalejaiye Funmilola, Bukola Jimoh, Awobode Afolabade all parents.
Two tudents, a Turkish teacher, a cook, two assistant supervisors and the House Mistress are those abducted by armed men on 13 January, 2017.
