Breaking News: Another PDP Senator Defects To APC

The representative of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Senator Nelson Effiong, on Thursday defected to the All Progressives Congress.
However, the PDP has vowed to challenge his defection in court.
Effiong, who announced his defection to the APC during plenary on Thursday, hinged his decision on the internal crisis in the PDP.
The Eagle Online gathered that his defection was discussed during the PDP caucus meeting held at the Senate Hearing Room 1 on Tuesday.
At the meeting, it was gathered that members of the PDP caucus kicked against the move.
A senator said the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, promised at the meeting to mediate between Effiong and the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, over a disagreement between them.
The source said: “The senator (Nelson Effiong) is leaving PDP because of the rift between him and the governor of his state.
“So, at the meeting, the caucus resolved to mediate between them.”
