Yari Hosts 2,000 Islamic Clerics for Prayers Ahead of 2027 Presidential Election

As the countdown to the 2027 general election gathers momentum, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has hosted more than 2,000 Islamic clerics and Imams at his residence for special prayers ahead of the presidential election.
The gathering, according to sources close to the campaign, was part of preparations for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the party begins to intensify its mobilisation for the 2027 contest.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, is expected to play a central role in coordinating the APC’s presidential campaign structure as the party seeks to secure Tinubu’s re-election.
The prayer session also underscored the importance attached to spiritual support as the campaign machinery begins its activities, with the clerics offering prayers for peace, stability and success for the country and the APC’s 2027 campaign.
Yari’s emergence as Director-General of the campaign has been described by party supporters as a strategic choice, given his political experience, grassroots connections and understanding of northern political structures.
Supporters of the Tinubu administration argue that the 2027 presidential contest will be heavily influenced by the strength of political structures, grassroots mobilisation and numerical advantage across the country.
They contend that the APC has continued to strengthen its structures ahead of the election and that the party’s mobilisation machinery gives Tinubu a strong platform as he seeks another term in office.
The opposition, including the camps associated with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, is also expected to intensify its mobilisation as the 2027 election approaches.
With political activities already gathering pace, the latest move by Yari signals that the APC presidential campaign is beginning to move from organisational preparations into active grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
