Residents Beg Raji, Tobun To Fix 3-Year-Old Damaged Epe Roads

Residents of Epe Local Government Area Council Of Lagos State, have appealed to their House of Representatives member, Hon. Wale Raji, and House of Assembly member, Chairman House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Mustainu Abiodun Tobun, to urgently rehabilitate the dilapidated Etitun, Nitel-Odubote, and Ajagannabe-Ayetoro link roads in Epe LGA.

The residents in video where they showed the worsening condition of the road, noting that they had endured its hardship for over three years.

While also calling the leadership of the state government, the residents with the names, Ajibade Daud, Rasaq Bello and many others, in a video stated that the community had continually resorted to self-help measures without achieving any lasting solutions.

“Over the past 3 years, residents and business owners have had to raise money together to do some palliative work on this road. But we usually fall back to square one once it rains, as every downpour washes away whatever palliative work we have done.

“As you can see some wooden culvert in our various house to cross over, and this had continued for the last three years without looking into our plights, prolonged problems we are facing, we are begging our House Of Representatives, in person of Wales Raji and House of Assembly Chairman Committee on Works and Infrastructure, Abiodun Tobun to come to our rescue,” they lamented.

They added that the terrible condition of the road has crippled daily activities and exposed residents, especially children to danger and to grave security risks.

They also said, “This road has even become a security threat to us here, as anytime we have a security emergency, police patrol vehicles find it difficult to access this community as a result of the sorry state of the road,” they said.

The residents, however, appealed to the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene, stressing that residents were exhausted and financially drained.

“We are appealing to the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to please remember us. The continuous deplorable state of this road is causing residents, the young, the old, business owners, students and school owners a lot of pain,” they added.

Journalists had, in a previous report, highlighted the outcry of several Epe communities over long-neglected access roads, some of which had not seen government attention for decades.

In one instance, residents complained that their road had become a nightmare during rainy seasons, forcing many to rely on makeshift palliatives as a situation similar to the struggle faced by many across the local government area of the state.
