Yari Begins Nationwide Consultations

….Mobilises Support For Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election

Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, has commenced strategic consultations across Nigeria as part of efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.

The consultations, which mark the first major outing of the campaign council, are being conducted through engagements with traditional rulers, religious leaders and key political stakeholders across the country.

Yari’s first major stop was the Sokoto Sultanate, where he met with the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, following a massive prayer session reportedly attended by more than 1,000 Islamic clerics at his residence the previous week.

Speaking during the engagement, Yari said the campaign would focus on showcasing the achievements of the Tinubu administration while engaging Nigerians at the grassroots.

“We believe in justice. President Tinubu has achieved a lot and we can demonstrate that. We have a lot to showcase,” Yari said.

The Sultan, in his remarks, stressed the importance of people and peaceful politics, warning against the weaponisation of political activities.

“Politics is a game of numbers, not of death. In politics, what you need is people,” the Sultan said.

He also called for a responsible approach to addressing the country’s challenges, particularly insecurity and poverty, noting that while such problems may not be completely eradicated, they can be significantly reduced.

According to the campaign council, the consultation is designed to cover Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and will involve both Christian and Muslim religious leaders, traditional institutions and influential political stakeholders.

The initiative is expected to leverage Yari’s extensive grassroots political network as the campaign council works towards its target of mobilising more than 20 million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Among political figures associated with the consultation effort are the governors of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, former Katsina Governor Aminu Masari, former Sokoto Governor and Senator Aliyu Wamakko, former Borno Governor Kashim Shettima, former Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, former Kebbi Governor and Senator Adamu Aliero, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and Hon. James Faleke, among others.

The consultations are expected to continue across the country, with the next major stop scheduled for Lagos in the South-West, where Yari is expected to engage the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, as part of the campaign’s outreach to traditional institutions.

The nationwide engagement underscores the PCC’s strategy of taking the 2027 campaign beyond conventional political rallies by building direct relationships with influential traditional, religious and community leaders.
