Why we are hosting Christian, Islamic and traditional leaders – Dr. Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu
On 29th June 2021, we hosted leaders of an interdenominational Christian association. On 8th July 2021, we shall host leaders of different Islamic organisations. On another date to be fixed, we shall also host traditional rulers from different parts of Nigeria.
Why are we hosting such crucial stakeholders of Nigeria? Because we want the South-East to take 2023 presidency with massive support from across Nigeria, our target being 50 million votes.
Furthermore, our first choice of party platform is APC, which is widely perceived to be anti-Christian. With tens of millions of Christians now supporting emergence of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction in 2023, that perception of hostility between Christians and APC has given way to a pan-Nigerian optimism.
A similar perception of hostility, following a speech in which someone told Muslims to vote for only a Muslim candidate, has existed between Muslims and Christian electoral candidates. While we are aware that enlightened Muslims have ignored the regrettable sentiment expressed in that regrettable speech, we still have to engage Muslims with the hope that that sentiment will be erased from the minds of all Muslims.
We want to win votes of all faiths and must prepare the ground for that to happen. Not only do we want to win Christian votes, we also want to win Muslim votes and, with the help of traditional rulers, votes of the millions of Nigerians who are neither Christian nor Muslim.
The Christian, Muslim and traditional religious leaders will be present during formal presentation of presidential aspirant of South-East APC Presidency Project 2023, which will hold very soon.
Our tactical and strategic engagements with critical stakeholders of Nigeria need funding by all who support emergence of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction.
