Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri, 23 lawmakers dump PDP for APC

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant political shift in the state. His resignation comes alongside that of 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, by the governor’s spokesperson, Daniel Alabara.

Governor Diri is now set to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), putting an end to months of speculation surrounding his possible defection to the ruling party.
