Why killings of Nigerians in South Africa will continue – Detective Osagie
ABIODUN JIMOH, BENIN CITY
Facts are emerging on why the recent killing of Nigerians and other foreigners in South Africa will persist despite outcry by the whole Africa and World at large condemning the killings.
According to the Nigerian-born Canadian Police, Sergeant Bassey Osagie while speaking on a television program monitored in Benin City, noted that the killings would continue in South Africa because of the fear of many Nigerian leaders who have houses over there, but afraid of being exposed.
Detective Osagie who condemned the barbaric attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa said: “Most of these big people in Nigeria have houses in South Africa, and they know that they will be exposed if they come out to speak. So, a lot of our leaders won’t say anything, because if they say something, South Africa government have a very good intelligent agencies that know everything about our leaders.
“If anyone of them open their mouths, they will be exposed. That’s why nothing is being done and nothing is going to be done. And that is why the killings of our citizens living in South Africa will continue.”
“South Africa is becoming typical Africa country. The local people there are lazy and the government is not providing job for their citizens. The local people are frustrated, but they are just taken it on wrong people perceived to be their enemies.
“And our people don’t deserve to die. Now that we have this group of jobless South Africans with no source of income, but saw the foreigners driving expensive cars, living better than them, they believed those foreigners are responsible for their woes. That’s partly the problem.
“The Nigeria government do not help the situation. The President Muhammadu Buhari administration refused to take decisive action against the government of South Africa by forcing them to make tough decision.
“South Africa government have been to Cape Town, they have a strong effective police intelligent that they can call upon to solve this problem, but they are dragging their feet, that is why the Buhari administration should be more purposeful, more visionary and take decisive action again and again, they have to close down the embassy.
“I am wearing this uniform today, I am assuring you that if anything happen to me though I am in Benin City, somebody will pay the price. So the government knows that Canadian government will ask why they could not protect me, but to hold them accountable.
“They will not hold the local people, but the Nigerian government for not protecting their citizen and for not doing enough to rescue and protect me. That is what Nigeria government have failed to do against the South African government.”
