We Are Passionate About Sport Development, To Provide A System For Athletes Development – Gov. Abiodun

The importance of sports in the development of society cannot be ignored just as this noticeable act has brought about the Ogun State Government readiness to provide a system for the development of athletes who will compete for laurels for the state and Nigeria.
Based on this the state government has declared its passion for sports, as well as pledging her support to the state contingent to the forthcoming National Sports Festival billed for Benin City, Edo State capital from March 22nd through April 1st, 2020.
Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun made this declaration at the presentation of the Torch of Unity of the 20th National Sport Festival, tagged ‘Edo 2020’ at the Forecourt, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Governor Abiodun ably represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, noted that the sport festival was an opportunity to bring the youth together, discover new talents and develop them. “I am pledging my support to the state contingent to the festival.”
Furthermore, he admonished the contingents to be of good conduct, by following instructions on health and security, in order to achieve a hitch-free outing.
Also speaking at the event, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde expressed optimism that Team Ogun would do the state proud at the festival, as Ogun remains the first among equals.
The Torch of Unity is a symbolic representation of Unity, Peace and Solidarity among Nigerians, especially athletes and officials across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Shuaib Salisu, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths, Hon. Olamide Lawal, Chief (Mrs.) Falilat Ogunkoya, among others.
