“Very Soon, I Will Speak to Nigerians” — Wike slams critics who accused him of destabilising PDP

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hinted at an impending public address that may shed light on his political future and ongoing tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking today, Wike issued a sharp rebuke to his critics within the PDP, particularly those who previously accused him of working to destabilize the party and colluding with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Very soon, I will speak to Nigerians,” Wike said, adding pointedly:
“People who said I want to destabilise the PDP, that I am working for the APC — all of them are now in APC.”

The statement appears to be a veiled reference to recent political realignments and defections among key opposition figures. Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a prominent voice in the PDP’s internal power struggles, has long faced scrutiny over his perceived closeness to the APC, especially after accepting a ministerial position in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

His remarks have reignited speculation over his political intentions and whether he plans to formally align with the APC or establish a new political path ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Analysts say Wike’s upcoming address could be a turning point not just for his personal political career but for the broader opposition landscape in Nigeria.
