UPDATED: Suspended SGF absent as Senate committee begins hearing……committee to go ahead with its final report
The suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, on Thursday, failed to appear before the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the North East on his invitation the third time.
Lawal was re-invited by the committee through a letter on Wednesday to answer questions in the probe into the alleged mismanagement of funds meant for the rehabilitation of the geopolitical zone.
Due to the absence of Suspended SGF Babachir Lawal, the Senate Adhoc Committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the Northeast has vowed to go ahead and submit their report.
Senate Adhoc Committee says suspended SGF Babachir Lawal chased out officials who went to deliver invitation to him at his residence yesterday even as he absented himself from the investigative hearing today.
At Press briefing, Senator Ben Bruce says if SGF Babachir Lawal had appeared it may have made his case much better but “he is like someone that stabbed himself with a Jack knife”
