UN delegation to visit Nigeria over quit notice to Igbo people – Isiguzoro

The United Nations will be visiting Nigeria any moment from now to address certain issues concerning the quit notice issued Igbo people resident in the northern part of the country.

This was announced by the president of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, as tension continues to rise over the threat against the Igbos in the north.

Isiguzoro said the visit of the world body is in response to the petition written by the council to UN over the recent quit notice issued to Igbo.

Punch reports that Isiguzoro spoke during a phone-in-program on the Abia state-owned radio station on Monday, June 26, 2017.

He reportedly insisted that except a referendum was conducted in Nigeria, the country will continue to witness agitations in many quarters.

He also expressed hope that the visit would bring a permanent solution to the current problems in the country.

According to him, the current agitation would have been averted if not for the constant neglects meted out to some ethnic nationals in Nigeria.

He said these neglects ranged from appointments, employments and sharing formula among others adding that Ndigbo have always been victims of unrest in the north despite their enormous efforts to develop the region.

He urged Acting President Yemi Osibanjo to convene a youth conference to address what he called an ugly menace.
