Tinubu’s Educational Credentials Debate Becoming ‘Psychotic’ — Patrick Doyle

Nollywood actor and veteran broadcaster Patrick Doyle has weighed in on the recurring controversy surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s educational credentials, describing the continued focus on the issue during election cycles as excessive.

Doyle made his position known in a post on his Facebook page while commenting on renewed discussions about the President’s academic records ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the issue has been repeatedly raised in previous election cycles without preventing Tinubu from winning elections or surviving legal challenges.

“The obsession with Asiwaju’s educational credentials every election cycle is bordering on the psychotic if you ask me,” Doyle wrote.

He argued that Tinubu had won elections several times based on, or despite, the credentials he submitted, stressing that attempts to challenge his eligibility on the basis of his educational qualifications had previously failed, including at the Supreme Court.

“The man has won elections no less than 4 times on the basis or in spite of the credentials he filed,” he stated.

Doyle further questioned the expectation that another attempt to make the issue a major campaign or legal weapon ahead of the 2027 election would produce a different outcome.

“Yet, on this 5th and final occasion that he has to contest an election, some overly optimistic pessimists believe that a ploy that has been repeatedly attempted and which so far has failed, even as far as up to the Supreme Court, will now suddenly resonate and work,” he added.

The actor concluded by likening the repeated focus on the matter to the popular definition of insanity, which he said involves repeating an action while expecting a different result.

His comments come amid continuing political debates ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with questions surrounding candidates’ qualifications and eligibility expected to remain part of the political discourse.
