Tinubu’s 74th Birthday: Islamic Leaders Lead Nationwide Prayers for Peace, Stability

Islamic leaders and traditional rulers across Nigeria on Sunday offered special prayers for the peace and progress of the nation as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marked his 74th birthday.

At the National Mosque, the prayer session was led by the Sultan of Sokoto, represented by Yahaya Abubakar, alongside prominent clerics and royal fathers. The President arrived shortly after 3:00 p.m., joined the special prayers, and observed the Asr prayer with other Muslim faithful before leaving.

The gathering attracted governors, ministers, politicians, and worshippers from across the country, who collectively prayed for divine guidance, wisdom, good health, and strength for the President as he continues to lead the nation.

Describing the event as a solemn spiritual exercise rather than a celebration, the Etsu Nupe stressed the importance of sustained prayers for national unity, peace, and development. He also called for increased government support for the upkeep of the National Mosque.

In his remarks, Chindo Yamusa commended the administration’s efforts in addressing economic challenges and supporting subnational governments. He noted that interventions in salary payments and infrastructure were already making a positive impact, particularly in Nasarawa State.

Islamic scholars from different sects participated in the session, which featured the recitation of the Holy Qur’an 111 times by more than 300 clerics, alongside prayers for Nigeria’s stability and prosperity.

Speaking on behalf of the President, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin expressed appreciation to religious leaders and attendees for their support, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to unity and national development.

The prayers concluded with special supplications led by Ibrahim Maqari for lasting peace and stability in the country.

Meanwhile, a similar prayer session organised by the Arewa Think Tank took place in Kaduna, attended by political leaders and traditional rulers, further underscoring the nationwide show of solidarity and prayers for the President and the country.
