Tinubu to Visit France, Kenya, Rwanda for Key Economic, Climate Summits
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for a three-nation diplomatic tour covering France, Kenya, and Rwanda, as part of efforts to deepen international partnerships and promote Nigeria’s economic agenda.
According to a State House press release issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s first stop will be France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May 11–12.
The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, restructuring of the global financial system, and climate action.
Tagged “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering will bring together African leaders and their French counterparts to deliberate on economic transformation, climate resilience, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and peace-building initiatives.
The Presidency said Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic alliances with African nations and France while positioning the country as a competitive destination for investment and growth.
Following the Nairobi summit, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum from May 14–15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is expected to attract over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers across the continent.
Organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, the forum will focus on accelerating Africa’s economic transformation through regional integration, cross-border investments, and the development of resilient industries.
At both engagements, Tinubu is expected to present Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms and engage in high-level meetings with global and African business leaders.
The President will be accompanied by senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda summit.
