Tinubu to Opponents: I’ll Wrestle You to the Finishing Point
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he is ready to face and defeat his political opponents ahead of the 2027 general election, saying he would “wrestle them to the finishing point.”
The President made the remark on Tuesday in Abuja while addressing members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), who paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa.
Tinubu said his administration remained focused on delivering on its campaign promises despite the country’s current economic and security challenges, insisting that the reforms being implemented would ultimately produce lasting benefits for Nigerians.
“I will wrestle my opponents to the finishing point,” the President said, expressing confidence that his administration’s achievements would earn the support of Nigerians in the next election.
He also assured the bishops that ongoing efforts to restructure security operations and strengthen key institutions would lead to decisive victories against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping, while economic reforms would place the country on the path to sustainable prosperity.
The President urged religious leaders to continue praying for the nation and supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace, unity and national development.
Tinubu’s remarks come amid increasing political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with parties and political actors already positioning themselves for the next electoral contest.
