Breaking: Tinubu, Shettima to Lead APC 2027 Campaign Council as Yari Emerges DG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 general elections.


According to the list released by the Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, Tinubu will serve as chairman of the campaign council, while Shettima will be vice chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as vice chairman.


Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary.


APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.


The campaign council will also have an advisory body comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran politician, Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.


Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, have been appointed deputy directors-general for the southern and northern zones.


They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Jibril Barau in coordinating activities across the zones.


Senator Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation as deputy director-general, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as deputy director-general for administration.


James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 presidential campaign, will return as deputy director-general in charge of election planning, coordination and monitoring.


Faleke will work with zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.


The election planning directorate will have Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori as secretaries.


Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the legal directorate, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.


For media and strategic communication, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, will serve as coordinating director, working with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.


Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed coordinating deputy directors within the media directorate.


Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries, while Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022 campaign. Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary of the New Media directorate.


The campaign has also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.


President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.


He also directed leaders of the various directorates to reach out to other party members who were not included in the formal list but could contribute to the campaign.


Tinubu said the APC administration had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path of economic progress.


“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” the President said, urging campaign members to highlight the administration’s achievements and inspire confidence among Nigerians.


He further charged the team to use the campaign season to showcase the administration’s record and defeat opposition forces seeking to reverse the country’s progress.
