Tinubu Postpones Ogun Trip, Heads to Plateau Over Killings
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled visit to Iperu in Ogun State and will instead travel to Jos to commiserate with residents following recent deadly attacks.
According to a State House press release issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President’s change of plans is in response to the killing of innocent citizens in parts of Plateau State.
The President was initially billed to visit Ogun on Thursday to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport in Iperu. However, he will now begin a four-state visit starting with Plateau, where he is expected to meet government officials and express condolences to affected communities.
After his visit to Plateau, Tinubu will proceed to Lagos State to observe the Good Friday.
On Saturday, April 4, the President will travel to Ogun State to commission the cargo airport and inaugurate two commercial aircraft intended to enhance import and export activities and boost economic growth in the state.
During the Ogun visit, he will also inaugurate the newly constructed Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service and its operational vehicles.
Tinubu will later return to Lagos to continue the Easter holiday, during which he is expected to commission several infrastructure projects undertaken by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. These projects include the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a multi-agency complex named after the President, and a school complex.
Before returning to Abuja, the President is scheduled to visit Bayelsa State on April 10 to commission projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri.
