Tinubu meets suspended Rivers Governor Fubara in bid to resolve rift with Wike

President Bola Tinubu has held a private meeting with suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as part of ongoing efforts to broker peace between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, before the expiration of the current six-month political truce.
The meeting took place in Lagos, where President Tinubu is currently observing the Eid-il-Adha holiday. It came less than 24 hours after Wike publicly stated that reconciliation with Fubara would require the involvement of all key stakeholders in their political conflict.
The development was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via his official social media account on Tuesday.
Onanuga shared that Governor Fubara visited the President in the Ikoyi area of Lagos, though he did not disclose the content of their discussions. He posted photos from the meeting as evidence of the engagement.
“Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers, now on suspension from office, visited President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday,” Onanuga wrote.
The meeting is seen as part of President Tinubu’s efforts to calm political tensions in Rivers State and prevent further instability as the reconciliation window narrows.
