President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on the occasion of his 68th birthday, praising his enduring contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development and nation-building.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu joined Jonathan’s family, friends, and political associates in celebrating the former leader, acknowledging the simplicity, humility, and maturity that have shaped his public service.
The President particularly commended Jonathan’s remarkable statesmanship during the 2015 presidential election, a moment widely regarded as pivotal to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. He noted that Jonathan’s decision at the time not only safeguarded national stability but also earned the country global respect.
Reflecting on their long-standing political relationship, President Tinubu recalled past engagements and mutual support dating back to 2010, as well as the 2011 presidential election, emphasizing the constructive counsel and cooperation that defined their interactions.
He further highlighted Jonathan’s continued service to Africa and the international community through his diplomatic engagements, especially in promoting democratic values and peaceful political transitions across the continent.
President Tinubu prayed for sustained good health, peace, and prosperity for the former President, his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, and their family as they mark this milestone.
