Taraba PDP Chairman resigns, set to join Governor Kefas in defecting to APC
The political landscape in Taraba State has taken a dramatic turn as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, has resigned from his position and withdrawn his membership from the party.
Bawa’s resignation came shortly after his return from the PDP national convention held in Ibadan. His exit marks one of the most significant high-level departures from the party in the state in recent times.
Sources within the state’s political circle revealed that Bawa is expected to officially join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming days. His move is believed to be aligned with that of Governor Agbu Kefas, who is also reportedly preparing to defect to the APC.
Though Bawa has not publicly disclosed his reasons for leaving, insiders suggest that ongoing intra-party tensions and shifting political alliances may have influenced his decision.
The development is likely to trigger broader realignments in Taraba politics as stakeholders await confirmation of Governor Kefas’s next political move.
