Surrender Illegally Acquired Arms, Ammunition Now- Ogun CP Warns

The Commissioner Of Police, Ogun State Command, Edward A. Ajogun has warned those who are in possession of illegally acquired arms and ammunition to surrender them at the nearest police station.
CP Ajogun stated this while briefing newsmen on the command’s activities across the state which was held on Monday at the state headquarters Eleweran, Abeokuta.
At the briefing, the command also paraded a total of thirty seven suspects for various degrees of offences ranging from armed robbery, rape, indecent assault, murder and many more.
However, the commissioner hinted that the command would embarked on search including house to house search for such arms and ammunition, while anyone found with these would face the wrath of the law.
He stated: “On my assumption of office in less than a month ago, precisely on July 24th, 2020, I assured residents of the Gateway State that criminals will have no hiding place in the state under my watch, because we are going to take the battle to their door steps and pay then back in their own coin.
“To achieve this, I directed all my officers to roll out all assets at their disposal to deal decisively with these dare devils to enable the good people of Ogun State enjoy maximum peace, go about their legitimate businesses without any form of harassment or intimidation and sleep with their two eyes closed with all deserving pleasure.
“The well-coordinated practical steps immediately taken towards realizing these objectives are yielding positive results, part of which the command is showcasing today.”
Furthermore, he said: “This is just the beginning of our war against crime and criminality in Ogun State. By this achievement in less than one month, nobody should be left in doubt about our determination to rout crime and criminality from the state. 
“I want to assure the good people of Ogun State that those who have chosen crime as their business are going to have it rough with the command in the days to come as the command will relentlessly go after them. 
“Criminally minded persons and deviants alike are therefore advised to turn a new leaf before the long arm of the law catches up with them. 
“Let me seize this opportunity to warn those who are in possession of illegally acquired arms and ammunition to surrender them at the nearest police station, as the Command as embarked on search including house to house search for such arms. Forewarned is forearmed.
“To the law abiding citizen of the state, I want to once again assure them that the command is ready more than ever to guarantee their safety at all times. The cooperation of all the good citizens of Ogun State is particularly required in the area of useful information to deal with these criminals.”
