SPEAKER CALLS FOR SYNERGY ON SECURITY

The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto Has affirmed that the

security of lives and property is all encompassing and sacrosanct to
economic development which is one of the thematic pillar’s of the
present administration to drive the process of industrialization to a
logical conclusion.

The Speaker reiterated this while addressing members of Edo Civil Society Organization
who protested to the House on the high level of insecurity in Edo
State following the brutal murder of a University Don, Professor Paul
Otasowie, kidnapping of music maestro, Ambassador Osayomore Joseph,
Director of Ogba Zoo, Mr. Andy Ehanire recently revealed that
government desire to curtail the state of criminal activities in the
State.

Hon. Adjoto said the House under his Leadership, will make effective
laws, that will strengthened security agencies to enable them rise to
the security challenges and curb the orgy of violence perpetrated by
disgruntled elements in the society.

A statement endorsed by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to
the Speaker, Mr. Jacob Afeinkhena stated that the Speaker calls for
information sharing which is vital to fishing out the perpetrators of
the heinous crime in the past few weeks.

The Speaker called for synergy between Civil Society Organization, the
government and other stakeholders in the security sector, to achieve
the desired result of making Edo State Industrial friendly to
investors, to harness the enormous potentials in the State.

Hon. Adjoto said that the high level of kidnapping, armed robbery
which has reared up its ugly head will be curtailed as the state
government has taken drastic measure to abate the ugly trend.

The Co-ordinator-General Edo Civil Society Organizations Comrade
Omobude Agho called on the State House of Assembly, to organize a Town
Hall Meeting where all stakeholders can deliberate on Current Security
Challenges facing the State and chart the way forward.
