HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY TO ARREAT ERRING CONTRACTORS
The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto has said that
the House will apply the full weight of the Law on erring and
defaulted contractors for failing to execute road projects after
collecting mobilization from the Federal Government.Hon. Adjoto while presiding over sitting during plenary said the
failure of Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company as well as MotherCat Nigeria Limited to appear before the House to explain the
rationale behind the abandonment of the Benin – Auchi road is an
affront to the House.The Speaker said contempt for the Legislature is a serious offence under the law and warned that the House will not succumb to threats or intimidation, but will rise to the task of alleviating the plight of
Edo people passing through harrowing experience in assessing the road.In a press statement made available by the Special Adviser to the Speaker
on media and publicity, Jacob Afeinkhena indicated that Dantata and Sawoe and MotherCat Nigeria Limited have been mandated to appear
before the House on the 23rd of October, 2017 by 10am.Hon. Adjoto decried the slow pace of work on the Benin – Auchi Road, which has inflicted untold hardship on the people and adverse effect on socio-economic activities of Edo State.
