The governors of the South-West geopolitical zone convened an emergency security meeting in Ibadan on Monday to address rising security concerns across the region.

Although details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, sources indicated that the meeting focused on coordinated strategies to curb recent incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and communal unrest affecting several parts of the region.

Oyo State Governor, who hosted the session, emphasized the need for a unified front in strengthening security infrastructure and improving intelligence sharing among the states. He noted that the safety of residents and the stability of the region remain top priorities.

The governors are expected to announce a joint communiqué outlining new security measures, including enhanced collaboration with federal security agencies and potential upgrades to the regional security network, Amotekun.

The emergency meeting comes amid growing public concern over insecurity and calls for decisive action from regional leaders. More updates are expected as discussions progress.
