APC Accuses Atiku, ADC Of Plot To Discredit Kaduna Campaign Rally

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of allegedly plotting to discredit the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna.
The council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, made the allegation in a statement on Saturday, October 24, 2026, claiming that the alleged plot involved the circulation of fake news, doctored videos, artificial intelligence-generated content and counterfeit documents.
Alake said the alleged campaign was aimed at discrediting President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other APC leaders ahead of the rally.
He cited the circulation of a photograph showing a security vehicle on routine patrol near an APC campaign billboard, which he claimed was misrepresented as evidence that security agents had been deployed to protect the party’s billboards.
According to him, the report was subsequently published by a national newspaper and shared by Atiku on his official social media accounts.
The APC campaign council also alleged that a purported letter claiming that the Kaduna State Government released N2.3 trillion to host the rally was fabricated.
Alake questioned the plausibility of the figure, arguing that it exceeded the combined budgets of Kaduna State for 2024, 2025 and 2026.
He put the state’s budgets for the three years at N458.271 billion, N790.439 billion and N985.9 billion, respectively.
The council further alleged that old, doctored and deepfake videos would be circulated during the rally to create the impression that residents were opposed to the APC campaign.
“We hereby use this opportunity to alert the general public about this malicious and ignoble plan,” Alake said.
He urged Nigerians to be vigilant against what he described as attempts to manipulate public opinion through misinformation.
The statement also criticised Atiku and the ADC, accusing them of using disinformation to undermine the APC’s political activities.
However, the allegations were contained in the APC campaign council’s statement, and the statement did not provide independent evidence establishing Atiku’s or the ADC’s involvement in the alleged scheme.
