Safeguard your property by yourself- Ogun CP urges citizens

By ABIODUN JIMOH, ABEOKUTA

Worried at the level of negligence on the part of the citizens, the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has advised the public to always safekeep and safeguard their property with all diligence.

Similarly, the citizens have been urged to avail the command of useful information that would help to curb the activities of criminals and other forms of criminality across the state, and to complement the effort of the state government.

This was a parting message delivered by the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Bashir D. Makama while addressing media men on Tuesday during the parade of eight suspects that included a woman arrested for infanticide at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) base, Magbon, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The emotional CP in his chat said: “I want to use this medium again to urge the good people of Ogun State to continue with the cooperation and collaboration they have been having with the security agents and state command so that we will have a quiet Christmas and prosperous New Year celebration. Also to sleep with their two eyes closed.

“The issue with burglary, the public are advised to safekeep and safeguard their property. If you leave your property loosely by leaving it outside without closing your door, what do you expect.

“If you leave your valuables outside without any protection, or guarding them, what do you expect. But if you keep them under lock and key, burglars will find it difficult to break in, or have asses to reach it.

“I urge the public to be wary of those living around them, those who stay with them. These criminals live among them and we expect a lot of information from the people to help us tame them in time. So that we can serve you better.”
