Rivers PDP suffers major blow as six Reps dump party for APC

Six lawmakers representing Rivers State in the House of Representatives have switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defecting legislators are Robinson Dekor, Solomon Bob, Cyril Hart, Victor Obuzor, Blessing Amadi, and Felix Nwaeke. Their defection letters were read on Tuesday by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, who attributed their decision to persistent internal divisions and unresolved crises within the PDP.
The lawmakers stated that the ongoing turmoil in their former party had hindered their ability to advance politically. They also expressed their commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda under the APC platform.
Following this latest development, the PDP’s representation from Rivers State in the House has dropped sharply—from 12 members to just two. This comes after three other Rivers lawmakers—Boniface Emerengwa, Awaji-Inombek Abiante, and Boma Goodhead—also defected to the APC last week.
The PDP is now left with only the House Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda, and Kelechi Nwogu as its representatives from Rivers State.
