Register With Government – Osun Commissioner Urges Veterinary Owners

Stakeholders and operators of veterinary outfits in the State of Osun have been urged to get themselves registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security so as to get government recognition and thereby move forward veterinary business in the state.
Osun Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Adedayo Adewole disclosed this in a statement made available to Daily Dispatch by Segilola Babalola, Press Officer in the ministry.
The commissioner, represented by the Coordinating Director in the ministry, Mrs Gbemisola Fayoyin stated this at a stakeholders meeting of all operators of veterinary outfits and those planning to operate veterinary business in the state, held in Osogbo.
Fayoyin remarked that the practitioners of veterinary outfits such as veterinary hospital, clinic, dog kennels, distribution and marketing of veterinary drugs, vaccines, dog food and medicants among others, must get their business premises registered, organised and recognised, so that they can fish out the bad eggs in the business.
She equally advised them to encourage those that have not registered to do so, in order to be included in the government data base of veterinary business practitioners in the state.
Speaking earlier at the meeting, the Director of Veterinary Services, Doctor Mrs Abosede Olatokun urged those people that have interest in operating veterinary outfit and those planning to operate veterinary business to approach the ministry for the registration of their businesses.
In his comment, Chairman, National Veterinary Medical Association, Osun State chapter, Dr. Moses Olayemi stated that It was necessary and important for veterinary premises to be registered to enhance better practice and equally fish out the quack veterinary doctors who can tarnish the good image of the business.
Also, in her comment, the representative of Osun Internal Revenue Service, Mrs. F. O. Oyekale urged the practitioners of veterinary business in the state to play their own roles in boosting the internally generated revenue of the state through prompt payment of their taxes.
The Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer, Oyo State, Dr Akeem Kareem in his lecture at the the meeting spoke extensively on ‘Veterinary Premises Regulation Modus Operandi’, he urged the veterinary practitioners to distinguish their practice from those quack practitioners who are not ready to abide by the regulatory laws guiding veterinary business in the state and beyond.
Highlight of the event was the lecture delivered to sensitize the stakeholders in veterinary business in the state.
