Presidential Tribunal: Police to divert traffic around court area to forestall clash between APC and PDP
The police in Federal Capital Territory say they will divert traffic from routes leading to the Court of Appeal where the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will sit on Wednesday to avert a possible clash between the supporters of the All Progressives Congress and their Peoples Democratic Party counterparts.
The force said traffic would be diverted from Goodluck Ebele Way and Shehu Shagari Way in the Maitama area of Abuja to other routes.
Spokesman for the force in the FCT, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, stated these in a statement on Tuesday.
He advised motorists to use alternative routes to their destinations today.
He said, “While apologising for the inconveniences this might cause those who ply the said routes to their respective offices and business points, the command states that the move is part of proactive measure to beef up security at the venue.
“It is to forestall any act that could disrupt the tribunal’s sitting and result in a breakdown of law and order, especially clash between the supporters of both parties.” PUNCH.
