Presidency denies reports of change in Chief of Staff
The Presidency has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 25, 2025, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, described the claim as a “viral falsehood” fabricated to cause confusion and disharmony within the government.
According to the statement, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola continues to serve in his role as Principal Private Secretary. The Presidency stressed that there has been no change in either position.
“The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to a viral falsehood circulating on social media suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff,” the statement said, adding that there is “absolutely no truth to this story.”
The Presidency urged Nigerians to disregard the report entirely and cautioned against the spread of unverified information, particularly on social media platforms.
It also called on media organisations and social media users to uphold professional standards by verifying information before publishing or sharing, warning that the spread of fake news undermines public trust and governance.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the administration’s commitment to transparency and accurate communication with the public.
