Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Nasarawa State have dismantled a suspected kidnappers’ hideout, arrested a suspect, and recovered weapons during an intelligence-driven operation.

The breakthrough was disclosed in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, who said operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) carried out the raid following credible intelligence.

According to the statement, the operation took place at Gidan Akuya village in Keana Local Government Area, where security operatives stormed the hideout of a suspected notorious kidnapper.

Police said the suspects attempted to escape upon sighting the operatives but were pursued, leading to the arrest of a 43-year-old suspect identified as Jibril Yunusa.

A search of the hideout led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, and a locally fabricated rifle.

During interrogation, Yunusa reportedly confessed to involvement in several kidnapping operations around the Keana and Awe axis of the state and has provided information to assist ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed operatives to intensify efforts to track down other members of the gang who fled during the operation and ensure they are brought to justice.
