Police confirm killing of student in Oyo by officer

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the shooting of a student by a police officer.

Police spokesman Adewale Osifeso said the state police commissioner Ngozi Onadeko has ordered full-scale investigations into the death of the victim Samuel Akinsuyi along Eruwa-Ibadan Road on March 11.

He said the culpable officers have all been identified, apprehended, and undergoing debrief accompanied immediately with the commencement of their orderly room trials.

The Commissioner of Police appealed for calm and reassured of a thorough and diligent investigation into finding out the actions that led to the incident.

Osifeso said adequate sanctions would be meted out in accordance with relevant laws and statutes.

The police spokesman added that updates would be provided in due course and urged residents and the student’s body to go about their normal business and academic activities as investigations continue on the matter.
