PENGASSAN: Dangote Refinery Reaffirms Commitment to Nigeria’s Development and Workers’ Welfare
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has extended deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prompt and decisive intervention, which helped prevent what the company described as “disruptive actions” by PENGASSAN targeting its operations.
In a statement, the company credited the President’s leadership and the efforts of key ministers and top government officials for swiftly restoring stability to the energy sector at a critical juncture.
“We express our sincere gratitude to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose timely action — executed through his ministers and senior officials — effectively de-escalated the threat posed by PENGASSAN to the Refinery,” the statement said.
Dangote Refinery specifically acknowledged the contributions of the nation’s security leadership, including National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; DSS Director General Mr. Adeola Toyin Ajayi; and NIA Director General Mr. Mohammed Mohammed, all of whom were instrumental in restoring order.
The company also praised several cabinet members for their relentless efforts behind the scenes. These included Minister of Labour and Employment Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi, Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Mr. Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Abubakar Bagudu, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha. According to Dangote Refinery, these individuals “worked tirelessly, even into the late hours, to prevent actions that could have disrupted Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.”
“We commend their unwavering dedication to national service,” the company added.
In addition, Dangote Refinery expressed heartfelt thanks to the Nigerian public for their overwhelming support during the crisis.
“To Nigerians across every community and sector, we owe immense gratitude. Your vocal support, solidarity, and encouragement—heard on streets and across media platforms—uplifted us. It strengthened our resolve and affirmed our belief in the Nigerian people as the backbone of our mission. Rest assured, we remain committed to protecting national interests and resisting the influence of rent seekers and economic saboteurs,” the statement continued.
The company also recognized its staff for their resilience and dedication during the unrest.
“To our dedicated workforce, thank you for standing firm. Not once did our operations falter, even under pressure. Your loyalty and belief in our mission were evident, despite provocative rhetoric from those who seek to undermine our efforts. Your commitment is our strength, and we will continue to reward and support you—regardless of misguided attempts to interfere in our internal affairs,” the company emphasized.
Highlighting its role in national development, Dangote Refinery noted that the Dangote Group stands as Nigeria’s largest private employer and a leader in ethical employment practices.
“It’s worth noting that the Dangote Group is widely regarded as a benchmark for responsible employment in Nigeria. We are the largest private-sector employer and a major contributor to national tax revenue. Our remuneration policies are globally benchmarked to ensure fairness, performance-based rewards, and a safe working environment. Through continuous training and mentorship, we enable our employees to grow into leadership roles and enjoy long-term career fulfillment.”
The company also praised the judiciary for upholding the rule of law amid mounting pressure and provocation.
“We must recognize the Nigerian judiciary for its courage and impartiality during these trying times. Despite deliberate attempts by certain actors to ignore valid court orders, the judiciary upheld justice and demonstrated why it remains a pillar of democracy. We salute their integrity and thank them for defending the rule of law,” the statement said.
Concluding, Dangote Refinery reiterated its steadfast commitment to national progress and industrial advancement.
“To all our stakeholders, thank you. Your continued support drives us. We will remain unwavering in our duty to Nigeria—ensuring consistent production of petroleum products and championing national development. Our commitment to the country and its people is resolute and unshaken, regardless of attempts to distract or derail our mission,” the company affirmed.
