PDP Suspends Senator Ogembe in Kogi Over Alleged Defection Moves
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi Central has suspended Senator Ahmed Ogembe following allegations that he declared the collapse of the party’s structure in Okene Local Government Area in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a suspension letter signed by the party’s Zonal Vice Chairman (Central) and Chairman of the Okene Caretaker Committee, Hon. Anthony Akuvada Momoh, Ogembe was accused of engaging in anti-party activities in violation of Sections 58 (1) and 59 of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).
The letter alleged that Ogembe’s actions amounted to gross misconduct, betrayal of trust, and deliberate attempts to weaken the party’s survival in Kogi State, stressing that such offences “strike at the foundation of party loyalty and cannot be ignored.”
Citing its constitutional powers, the PDP leadership announced that Senator Ogembe stands suspended with immediate effect, pending the outcome of an investigation by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
