PDP Bauchi Backs Out of APC Merger Talks, Eyes New Political Alliances

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has announced its withdrawal from plans to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that it will now consider other political alternatives.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday at the PDP Secretariat along Yandoka Road in Bauchi, the State Chairman, Sama’ila Burga, said the decision followed unresolved disagreements over key conditions between both parties.

Burga explained that the briefing was intended to update the public on recent developments involving the party, its leadership, and stakeholders. He noted that the PDP had entered the discussions with genuine intentions to build mutual understanding and explore possible collaboration for the state’s advancement.

However, he said the talks ended without success. “We approached the discussions in good faith and with openness, but we could not reach a consensus,” he stated.

He added that the party engaged in wide consultations before arriving at its decision, involving members of the National Assembly, State Assembly, and local government leaders.

According to Burga, a major sticking point was the APC’s inability to agree to several conditions put forward by the PDP. “There was no agreement on key issues, which made it necessary for us to step away from the process,” he said.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to the people of Bauchi State, Burga stressed that the PDP would continue to explore political options that align with the interests and aspirations of the জনগ.

He also reiterated the party’s dedication to promoting good governance, unity, and development under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed.

Addressing journalists, Burga assured that the party remains conscious of electoral timelines and will take all required steps to meet legal obligations, while continuing to pursue the best possible political path for its members and the state.
