Olubadan-In-Council set to forward Rasheed Ladoja’s name to Makinde

The Olubadan-In-Council has officially selected Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The nomination was made during a closed-door session on Monday at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, situated within the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Although Oba Ladoja was not present, the meeting was led by the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, who confirmed that the council unanimously endorsed his appointment.

“Every member of the Olubadan-In-Council has signed in support of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland,” said Oba Ajibola.

He noted that the council’s decision would be forwarded to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who will then set a date for the formal presentation of the staff of office.

“With the burial of the late Olubadan scheduled for this week, the installation ceremony will be held at a later time—perhaps in one, two, or even three weeks, depending on the governor’s decision,” Ajibola added.

The former Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, passed away on July 7, 2025, and preparations for his funeral are currently ongoing.
