OgunTo Employ Additional Traffic Officers For Traffic Agency

Ogun State Government has disclosed that it is going to employ additional traffic control officers under the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps,TRACE,to raise the low numerical strength of workforce of the agency.
The agency established in 2005 under enabling law signed by Ogun State House of Assembly is currently having staff strength of 585, which serves the entire state with 20 local government and 37 local council development area.
Speaking at the official decoration of newly promoted 298 staff of the agency, Secretary to Ogun State Government,Barrister Adeoluwa Taiwo admitted the shortage of manpower,which he said bothers the government.
In view of this development and considering proactive of the workforce,Taiwo said the state government had met with the management and resolved to employ additional hands.
‘We are aware of shortage of manpower and equipment, and also appreciate the roles the agency is and has been playing on our roads. The government has met with the management with the view to employ more staff, and that would be implemented in due course’,he said.
The government scribe who earlier commissioned three newly acquired operational vehicles of the agency,admitted that, the agency was doing well, and government would continue to support the management.
Commander of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps,TRACE, Seni Ogunyemi earlier in his welcome address disclosed that arrangements were in top gear for the construction of the agency training camp and permanent headquarters on a 3 hectares of land.
Ogunyemi said the proposed multi-million naira office complex is to be sited along OGTV-Ajebo road in Abeokuta. He added that the land was donated by Ogun State Government.
The agency boss at the event,gave assurance that the agency would continue to strive and re-dedicate itself to the corps mission and vision statement of ensuring service delivery through the promotion of safety on Ogun State corridor.
Ogunyemi on the promoted staffers said they should know that promotion is a reward for excellence and service,as welll as a call for additional service and responsibility.
Also in his remark,Head of Service, Abayomi Sobande enjoined all promoted officers,to note that the reward of hardwork is more work,and called on them to reciprocate the gesture.
‘You must continue to uphold the sanctity of the service,most especially as enshrined in the public service rules. You must see your promotion as a call for more service to the government and good people of Ogun State’,he said.
Represented by Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Pension, Babatunde Agbaje,the head of service advised the staffers of the agency on need to be diligent and shun any action that can tarnish their names and the integrity of the agency.
