OGUN WEST TRADITIONAL RULERS BEGS AMOSUN TO SEARCH FOR SUCCESSOR FROM THE ZONE
The Traditional Council of the Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State on Tuesday called on the Governor,Ibikunle Amosun to help the zone search for a credible governorship material who will take over from him after leaving office in 2019.
It would be recalled and on record that,the Ogun West Senatorial District remained the only zone which has not produce governor,since the creation of the state 41 years ago.
However,the traditional rulers from the geo-political zone led by Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland,Kehinde Olugbenle made the plea during a call to the governor in his Oke-Mosan office,Abeokuta.
The governor had earlier at a political meeting in Abeokuta declared that,he would support governorship candidate from the zone in the next political dispensation in the state..m
The members of the traditional council while keying into Amosun gesture for the emergence of a consensus candidate from the Zone in the 2019 gubernatorial poll,asked the governor to identify the most suitable person for the zone.
The royal fathers also assured that the ‘anointed” candidate will be supported by the members of the council,expressing optimism that the candidate would becapable to rule the state.
Olugbenle emphasised that, the council was ready to work for anyone who the governor presents, adding however that the zone was waiting for the governor to do so.
He also prayed for the creation of Ijebu State during the lifetime of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Adetona.
The governor, in his response, restated that it is fair that all the three Senatorial Districts have the honour and opportunity of having their own rule the state.
Amosun expressed the belief that this will go a long way in strengthening the harmonious relationship and unity that exist among the various zones of the state.
He said,the task, was a collective responsibility of all stakeholders, urging them to close ranks for the dream to be realised.
