OGUN POLICE COMMISSIONER APPLAUDS EFFICIENCY OF COMMUNITY POLICING
The Ogun State Police Commissioner,Ahmed Ilyasu on Friday confessed that,community policing has been a successful story for his command in combating crimes and criminals.
Illyasu made this known at an award ceremony bestowed on him as the Best Police Community Relations Committee,PCRC,friendly Commissioner of Police’,by the committee,held at police headquarters,Abeokuta.
‘My command success and achievements and what we are recording is as a result of good people of Ogun State and cooperation of PCRC. People policing remain best to tackle crime’
He pointed out that,this can be achieved through confidence of the people,stressing that,the command cannot afford not to work with the people,hence,need to partner with the committee
‘We cannot afford not to work with the people. We have designed micro PCRC unit with the cooperation of the body. We shall continued to partner with PCRC and other sister agencies of the police.
The Commissioner also acknowledged the roles of the media, in genuinely supporting the command in fighting crimes,adding that the command success story would be incomplete without media.
‘Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the press in Ogun State,which has become our partner in crime fighting. They even followed us to hazardous crime scenes’,Ilyasu said.
Earlier in his speech, Ogun State Chapter Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee,PCRC, Habeeb Olaniyan said the award was on leadership quality of the police boss.
Olaniyan accompanied by other executives of the committee commended the command over the recent feat recorded with arrest and parade of 53 suspects,stating that,the command remained the best in crime fighting.
