Obiano is alive and well, says former Information Commissioner

C. Don Adinuba, who served as Commissioner for Information under former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano, has debunked circulating reports claiming the ex-governor died in the United Kingdom.

In a statement released on Friday, Adinuba dismissed the rumour as baseless, noting that Obiano resides in Texas, USA—not London.

Titled “Former Governor Willie Obiano is Alive, Healthy, and Kicking,” the statement emphasized that Obiano remains in good health, strong and energetic even at 70.

Adinuba expressed gratitude to individuals and organisations around the world, including major international outlets like the BBC, for their concern. He said the widespread reactions demonstrate how deeply Obiano is valued nearly four years after leaving office and settling into a quiet life abroad.

He added that, like past false reports involving notable figures such as the Great Zik of Africa, this rumour has no foundation whatsoever.
