Obi won 2023 election not Tinubu- Babachir Lawal insisted
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has insisted that Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was the true winner of the 2023 presidential election.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Tonight on Monday, Lawal said the facts and data at his disposal showed Obi won the poll that declared Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s 16th president.
A staunch critic of the current administration, he argued that Tinubu did not emerge victorious, stating:
“The results I had at the time indicated he didn’t win. The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I wronged him — I didn’t. He wronged me. He’s full of himself, and he thinks that now, as the so-called president, he can carry on. I believe he didn’t win the election.”
Lawal explained that his position was based on close monitoring of the polls, collection of field data, and tracking of results, some of which he claimed were tampered with.
When asked to specify Tinubu’s alleged offence against him, Lawal replied:
“He is arrogant. The kind of arrogance he carries defies description.”
