Obaseki, Shaibu Departure Won’t Affect APC In Edo North – Engr Ahmed

By ABIODUN JIMOH

The leader of All Progressives Congress  (APC) in Edo North, Engr Saliu Ahmed has reiterated that the departure of the state Governor Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Hon Philip Shuaibu as well as their supporters would not have any negative effects or impacts on the fortunes of the party in the area.

Engr Ahmed, a prominent and revered  leader in the zone highlighted that contrary to the belief of some members about the electoral value of the defectors, the APC in Edo North would remain intact and even more determined to sweep the governorship poll in September, so as to give a lie to any false insinuation.

This statement is not in any way unconnected with recent developments in the Edo APC, resulting in the decision of the Edo State governor and his deputy to resign and move some of the state structure into another party, following the disqualification of Obaseki by the party’s screening committee and the subsequent endorsement of that decision by the Appeal Committee.

Furthermore, Engr Ahmed, a COREN registered engineer, who is also an advocate of Pastor Ize Iyamu in Edo North, hinted that the whole hullabaloo surrounding the Obaseki/Shuaibu myth is a hollow conjecture and would be dealt with accordingly during the poll.

“What is most important is how to sustain the legacy projects initiated by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in Edo North, which were stopped by Obaseki, but Pastor Ize Iyamu has promised to continue them on resumption and that is what matters most to Edo North.

“I am soliciting for prayers and support to the APC national Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, who is the symbol of Edo North,” he opined.

Similarly, Engr Ahmed, an employer of labour in Edo North expressed hope that Pastor Ize Iyamu as APC flag bearer would get elected as governor, noting the same party machinery which was deployed to  deliver Obaseki/Shuaibu in 2016 is better oiled now to repeat the same feat in the September 2020 for Ize Iyamu.
