Obasanjo, Turaki, Ex-Govs, PDP Leaders Hold Closed-Door Meeting in Abeokuta
A faction of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by its chairman, Alhaji Taminu Turaki, on Saturday held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The meeting took place at Obasanjo’s residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL). Turaki arrived at the venue at about 11:38am, accompanied by former governors of Niger and Plateau states, Alhaji Muazu Babangida and Senator Jonah Jang, as well as other senior leaders of the party.
Shortly after their arrival, the PDP leaders proceeded into a private session with the former president. Details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed.
Although the agenda of the meeting remains unknown, the visit is coming amid ongoing political realignments and internal consultations within the opposition party.
The PDP leaders are expected to brief journalists at the conclusion of the meeting.
