NPC Confirms Disu as Substantive Inspector General of Police
The National Police Council (NPC) has approved the appointment of Olatunji Rilwan Disu as the substantive Inspector General of Police.
The decision was reached on Monday during a council meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, presided over by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development, stating that members of the council unanimously endorsed Disu for the position.
Disu had been serving in an acting capacity following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun, who stepped down citing family reasons.
After his initial appointment, President Tinubu decorated Disu as acting IGP and tasked him with restoring public trust in the Nigeria Police Force, while strengthening collaboration with other security agencies.
The latest ratification by the NPC clears the way for Disu’s confirmation in a substantive capacity, with the Senate expected to complete the final approval process.
