NNPC confirms containment of breach on Escravos–Lagos pipeline

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has confirmed that a reported breach on a section of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) in South-West Warri, Delta State, has been successfully contained.

In a statement issued on Sunday, NNPC Ltd. said coordinated containment measures were promptly executed following the incident reported on Thursday, December 11, 2025, ensuring the safety of host communities, personnel, and the environment. The affected pipeline sections have been safely and securely isolated.

The company disclosed that a joint preliminary inspection of the site has been carried out by technical teams from NNPC Ltd., the Nigeria Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and maintenance contractors.

NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), the operator of the network, has activated its Business Continuity Plan to manage potential impacts on stakeholders, including shippers and suppliers.

NNPC Ltd. reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open communication with host communities, state authorities, and other critical stakeholders, appreciating their continued support and cooperation. The company emphasized its ongoing dedication to community safety, environmental protection, and the reliability of its operations across all assets.
