NIMC Intensifies Nationwide Ward-Level NIN Enrolment Drive

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced that its ongoing ward-level enrolment exercise for the National Identification Number (NIN) is progressing steadily across the country.

In a statement issued by its Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, the commission said the decentralised enrolment drive, which began on February 16, 2026, is aimed at expanding access to identity registration at the grassroots level.

NIMC emphasised that the NIN remains a critical requirement for accessing essential government services in Nigeria. It therefore urged citizens and legal residents who are yet to enrol to take advantage of the exercise by visiting designated centres within their wards.

To ensure a seamless process, the commission advised applicants to check its official website, www.nimc.gov.ng, for the nearest enrolment locations, cooperate with officials, and provide accurate information during registration.

The agency also encouraged the public to follow its verified communication channels for updates, including its social media platforms such as Facebook (National Identity Management Commission – NIMC), X (formerly Twitter) @nimc_ng, and Instagram @nimc_ng.

For additional services, NIMC directed applicants to utilise its online platforms, including the pre-enrolment portal (penrol.nimc.gov.ng) and the self-service modification portal (selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng).

The commission further advised users to download the NIMC NINAuth mobile application, available on both iOS and Android platforms, to manage their digital identity.

Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive identity coverage, NIMC called on Nigerians to participate actively in the enrolment exercise.

For enquiries, the public can visit the official website or contact the commission via its helpline: 0800-061-6462.
