Nigeria Police Group Life Assurance Scheme doles out N12.8m
A whopping sum of twelve million, eight hundred and one thousand nine hundred and seventy nine naira (N12, 801,979.00) has been paid to ten families of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force who died in the line of duty under the Nigeria Police Group Life Assurance Scheme.
The presentation of the cheque was made to these families by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone Five, Mr. Abubakar Adamu Mohammed on Wednesday.
This was made known in a statement made available to Daily Dispatch Newspaper in Benin City by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Emeka Iheanacho on Wednesday
While presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, AIG Abubakar affirmed that Nigeria Police Group Life Assurance Scheme was established to take care of the welfare and needs of officers and men of the force who died or suffered one form of injury or the other in active service.
He added that the gesture was to further ameliorate the sufferings of deceased immediate families or injured policemen from untold hardship amongst others. Adding that no amount of money would be commensurate to bring back their husbands and bread winners as he urged them to take solace in God.
Furthermore, AIG Abubakar assured them that the force under the current Inspector General of Police is concerned about the welfare of officers and men of the force who died in the line of duty and that the sacrifice of these breadwinners would not be in vain just as he the recipients to make judicious use of the money.
Meanwhile, seven beneficiaries from Edo State command received cheques to the tune of N7,694,769.00 while the other three beneficiaries from Delta State command got N5,107,210.00 respectively.
The highest beneficiaries were, ThankGod Emmanuel (Edo), Blessing Osakobe (Edo) and Rotgak Sunday (Delta) who received N1,922,400.00 each while Masebinu Moses Omosuyi and others received N1,225,692.00.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chigozie Ugwuoke (Delta) thanked the Inspector General of Police and his management team as well as the Zone 5 for their concerns and timely intervention.
He promised that they would judiciously use the money and prayed God should protect the officers and men of the force in their quest for providing sustainable peace, security of lives and property in the country.
