Nigeria Immigration Service Increases Passport Fees Effective September 1, 2025
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a hike in the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, with the new pricing structure set to take effect from September 1, 2025.
In a statement released to the press on Thursday, the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Controller of Immigration ACI AS Akinlabi, disclosed that the revised fees apply exclusively to passport applications submitted within Nigeria.
According to the updated fee schedule, a 32-page passport with a five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with a 10-year validity is priced at ₦200,000.
The NIS clarified that this adjustment does not affect Nigerians applying from abroad.
For those in the diaspora, the fees remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year passport, and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year version.
The Service explained that the fee revision is intended to preserve the quality and security features of the Nigerian passport while also ensuring continued accessibility for citizens.
